Collector's Draw 2010

The 2010 Collector’s Draw is in the history books. On 21 Feb., 102 ticket holders went thru the unique “agony and ecstasy” of Collector’s Draw. They had 107 pieces of great art to pick from (which is one of the things that makes it so hard)! But all seemed to have a fun time. We had over 150 in attendance.
We have to start with our Thanks: 74 artists contributed art (20 more than one piece). Those who gave 3 were: Dan and Pat Tatum, Maria West, Mark Teague, and Renee Prasil. Those who gave 4 were: Walt Schumacher, Jerry Brown, and Don Broome. Every artist that contributed is invited to participate in the Collector’s Draw Limelight exhibition in July/August, which coincides with Gallery Tour.
In addition, Huntsville “legend” Gene Wood contributed a painting, which went up for auction for several times the ticket price. HAL greatly appreciates her support!
Our corporate sponsor again this year was Alabama Heritage Homes, and we presented a plaque and our appreciation to Kathy Wright. They also became Honorary Lifetime members.
Of course, we greatly appreciate our ticket buyers. Collector’s Draw goes a long way towards keeping HAL in business, and continuing our work of supporting visual art and artists in the Tennessee Valley!
A big Thanks to our workers: Heike Covell was our data entry and card hanging person, Teresia Reid and Julia Hawk were super at finding sponsors. Walt Schumacher did the coordination, “Calls for Art,” “Calls for Buyers,” signage, put the pictures and data on the web, etc. Teresia Reid also had the Ribbons made and secured the “Bingo cage,” and Sallie Estes rounded up all the folks necessary to do the “final push” of moving the art, and actually carry off the Draw. It takes quite a few “Draw Day” workers:
