During the afternoon sessions students will use the ideas from the morning session to develop their own paintings.   The workshop is intended for students with some experience in oil painting but you can expect a pressure-free atmosphere where you can try out anything you like.  Students are encouraged to ask questions at anytime.

Limelight Artist - October 2010

Mary Ellen Davidson

From paper with etchings and watercolor, to canvas using oil and acrylics, I've spent the last 45 years investigating various mediums. It's been a wonderful ride, especially the first 26 years with the etching process. Using some of that work, which includes numerous linoleum cuts, I have begun to use the press once more, this time rolling clay in order to hand-build each piece. Using the clay as my canvas, I've found an alternative way to create unique effects through the trial and error process of firing. I also use the wheel, sometimes to begin an abstract piece, as well as a traditional bowl. The excitement with this new medium brings joy to each new avenue I approach, with an endless array of creative potential.

Please join Mary Ellen during the First Friday Reception,
October 1st, 5-8 PM.
