Answer to Vote John Olshefski Question

Posted by Huntsville Art League | | Posted On Monday, August 23, 2010 at 1:20 PM

Question from Mia West:
 - I was wondering what he has done or what he is planning to do about stimulating the local art community, especially the Huntsville Art League?

First I have a good friend Peter Grant who has been very involved in HAL for years and brought me along almost 5 years ago.  I believe I understand the importance of the visual arts as part of the culture in Huntsville.   I have attended two “Unique Views of Huntsville” at the Huntsville Art Museum and purchased a painting at one of the shows.  I even have other art work from HAL hanging in my home.

Most recently I attended the ribbon cutting for the new addition to the HAL Gallery.  I was excited to see the expansion and the opportunity for both displaying more art and providing space for our artists to work.

I will support HAL in the future.  I understand the daily struggles of a non-profit organization (I am on four no-profit boards now) and am proud of what HAL has accomplished during the last 50 plus years. I want HAL to get stronger for another 50 yrs.

The HAL Director Walt Schumacher has my number and he knows I am willing to support when and where I can.

Art  is part of our Huntsville community as is sports, theater, museums, and art needs to stay there.  Art is a part of life and I will help keep it there the best I can.
